The Tennessee State Capitol is the oldest working state capitol in the United States. Designed by Greek Revival architect William Strickland, construction started the summer of 1845 and was completed in 1859.
Re-View Windows partnered with Femenella & Associates, with Re-View fabricating historic wood windows manufactured from Accoya™. The Capitol was designed with casement windows, but in the 1950’s they were replaced with a double hung design, limiting the overall visible light. After much debate the State of Tennessee elected to take the building back to its roots, transitioning it to a casement window design.
In an effort to maintain a historic aesthetic, but bring about a more energy efficient window system, vacuum insulated glass (VIG) was glazed into the new casements.
